This is the brand new Mizuno Pro X — Mizuno’s latest premium, tour-level golf ball. And honestly, I think it could be the best non-Titleist ball of 2025 so far.
Because I know you like the details, I’ve tested it head-to-head with the Pro V1 on TrackMan to see which one actually performs better for me.

And yes, if you stick around, Jeff gets involved too. He’s my cutting tool, and he’s got a bit of a cult following now. Jeff was actually named after a poll on my YouTube channel, and he’s been a real hit.
Let’s get into it.
First Impressions & Key Specs
The Mizuno Pro X sits at the top of Mizuno’s new “Pro” range, replacing the RB Tour and RB Tour X balls — which, let’s be honest, didn’t exactly set the world on fire.
This one’s different. It’s a three-piece ball with a urethane cover and 332 dimples. That’s more than most premium balls and designed to reduce drag for a more stable flight.
Mizuno haven’t confirmed the compression, but it feels close to 100. So it’s definitely on the firmer side, sitting right alongside the Pro V1 and Pro V1x.

TrackMan Testing – Pro X vs Pro V1
I tested both balls at Pro Shot Golf in Milton Keynes, using my driver, 7-iron, and 52° wedge. I wanted to see if the Pro X could really challenge the benchmark — and the results were interesting.
Driver
- Mizuno Pro X: 236.9 carry / 275 total
- Pro V1: slightly shorter overall
- Spin: Pro X = 1842 rpm / Pro V1 = 2051 rpm
That’s noticeably lower spin from the Mizuno, which means a bit more rollout — perfect if you’ve got a moderate or slower swing speed like mine.
7-Iron
This was the big surprise.
- Mizuno Pro X: 156.6 yards carry
- Pro V1: 142.6 yards
- Peak Height: Pro X = 111 ft / Pro V1 = 78 ft
So that’s 14 yards longer with a higher flight. Still plenty of spin, which should help with stopping power into the greens.
Wedge
- Mizuno Pro X: 6682 rpm, 69 ft peak height
- Pro V1: lower spin, 52 ft height
Again, great control and flight from the Mizuno. For my game, it offered a nice balance of spin and feel on those shorter shots.
Now, just to be clear, I’m not a robot. I’m a 10-handicap golfer. But I’ve tested over 300 golf balls on and off the course, and these numbers tell a strong story for the Mizuno.
Sound and Feel
The Mizuno Pro X has a slightly clickier sound at impact. Not harsh, just not as muted as the Pro V1. Some golfers might prefer the softer tone of the Titleist, but I didn’t find it distracting or off-putting.
It feels firm off the driver, but responsive on approach shots. I’d say it sits between a Pro V1 and a TP5x for overall feedback.

Durability
After a short session, I noticed a few scuff marks on the cover. Nothing major, but something to note if you’re particular about ball condition.
I didn’t hit any bunker shots, so the wear came just from normal wedge spin. Not a deal-breaker, just worth keeping an eye on.

Cutting It Open (Featuring Jeff)
Time to get Jeff involved.
For anyone new here, Jeff is my cutting tool — and yes, he has his own fanbase. Every time I review a golf ball, Jeff gets to slice it open so we can see what’s really inside.
Here’s what we found with the Mizuno Pro X:
- 3-piece construction: core, mantle, urethane cover
- High compression (~100)
- 332 AxialFlow dimple pattern for stability
- Thinner urethane cover (12% thinner than previous models)
- Thicker mantle (6% increase) for more ball speed and lower spin
- Softer core (12% softer) for better feel and energy transfer
You can see straight away that Mizuno have made serious improvements compared to their older balls.

Final Verdict – Should You Play It?
So, is it better than the Pro V1?
For my swing and my game, yes.
The Mizuno Pro X was longer with every club, launched higher, and gave me reliable spin control around the greens. It sounded a bit different and scuffed up a little faster, but those are small trade-offs.
At around £40 / $47.99 a dozen, it’s a genuine alternative to the big names — and in my opinion, one of the best premium value golf balls of 2025.
